Magical Mafias: Relationships

The relationships the characters have with one another and how they change over the course of the book. This includes romantic, sexual and kinkual relationships, as well as friendship and family relationships. If a breakup isn't mentioned, it doesn't happen.

Eric Wilkinson

Eric has present and past friendships, sexual kink relationships, intense possibly-romantic relationships, and does not have any family bonds. Eric is not monogamous. His relationships are primarily sexual kink.

Gabriel: They have a non-monogamous sexual and kink relationship that may or may not be romantic, but is intense and involves deep loyalty to and care for one another.

Greg: Eric plays a lot of scenes with Greg, including sexual ones, both as a co-bottom and as Greg's top.

Greta: They pretend to be having an affair with one another, but are not actually a couple and are not interested in becoming one.


Gabriel

Gabriel has present and past friendships, sexual and nonsexual kink relationships and intense possibly-romantic relationships. He is estranged from his family. Gabriel is not monogamous. His relationships are primarily kink.

Eric: They have a non-monogamous sexual and kink relationship that may or may not be romantic, but is intense and involves deep loyalty to and care for one another.

Greg: Greg has frequently been one of Gabriel's service subs and plays a lot of scenes with him, including sexual ones. He's also one of Gabriel's most trusted confidantes.

Illa: They develop a nonsexual kink relationship under false pretenses. It starts off going well and gets progressively more intense, but is shattered by the revelation that Illa is a faerie spy. Gabriel then becomes nonconsensually violent to Illa. They are not together at the end of the book, and instead become wary allies.


Greg

Greg has both casual sexual and submissive kink relationships with just about anyone in the Wingless who's up for it, and an intense sexual and kink relationship with Gabriel and Eric. He's well-liked in the Wingless and knows just about everyone.

Bev: Close, long-time friendship.

Eric: Greg plays a lot of scenes with him, including sexual ones, both as a co-bottom and as Eric's bottom.

Gabriel: Greg has frequently been one of Gabriel's service subs and plays a lot of scenes with him, including sexual ones. He's also one of Gabriel's most trusted confidantes.

Illa: They become friends and co-subs, at least until Illa is exposed as a spy. After that, Greg does nothing to interfere with Illa's imprisonment, but does try to show Illa some kindness.


Greta Holloway

Greta has present and past friendships and strong family bonds. She does not have any sexual, romantic or kink relationships. Her relationships are primarily strong family bonds.

Eric: They pretend to be having an affair with one another, but are not actually a couple and are not interested in becoming one.

Illa: They pretend to flirt, and Greta uses a magic drug to impersonate Thairn briefly, but nothing romantic, sexual or kinkual happens between them.

Mickey: They care deeply about each other as family, but with a barricade of lies between them. Greta willingly indebts herself to the fae in order to save Mickey's life. By the end of the book, Mickey realizes that she cares about him, and the two become closer.

Nathaniel: They are cordially-married friends who are not romantically or sexually interested in one another. Nathaniel does not appear in the book other than as a side mention.


Illa Sh'rettgratti

Illa has present and past friendships, offscreen family bonds, sexual relationships, romantic relationships and kink relationships. He is not monogamous. His relationships are primarily friendships and kink.

Gabriel: They develop a nonsexual kink relationship under false pretenses. It starts off going well and gets progressively more intense, but is shattered by the revelation that Illa is a faerie spy. Gabriel then becomes nonconsensually violent to Illa. They are not together at the end of the book, and instead become wary allies.

Greg: They become friends and co-subs, at least until Illa is exposed as a spy. After that, Greg does nothing to interfere with Illa's imprisonment, but does try to show Illa some kindness.

Greta: They pretend to flirt, and Greta uses a magic drug to impersonate Thairn briefly, but nothing romantic, sexual or kinkual happens between them.

Harry: They had a very nice casual kink thing going for several years that amicably ended several decades before the story began. Harry does not appear in the book other than as backstory.

Mickey: By the end of the book, they've become friends.

Shandra: They had an intense kink relationship and broke up. They remain broken up, and Shandra does not appear in the book other than as backstory.

Thairn: They have an arranged betrothal that Illa has tried to get out of and Thairn has refused to, out of fear they'll both be married off to strangers. Despite this, they've become close friends over the years. In the book, they develop a dominant-submissive sadomasochistic kink relationship. Their relationship vaccilates between public and secret as their spycraft necessitates. Their relationship expands into sexual play in the epilogue.


Jenna Huáng

Lucía: Jenna joins Lucía's extra-credit lab and develops a one-sided crush on Lucía, unintentionally further deepened as a result of Lucía's loyalty drug. Lucía is happy to use Jenna's loyalty to further her plans to take over the family, but does not use or reciprocate Jenna's romantic feelings. Jenna no longer has a crush on or loyalty to Lucía by the end of the book.

Michelle: They develop a nonsexual romantic connection that becomes a relationship near the end of the book. Their growing bond and deep care for one another drives a lot of their story arcs.

Mickey: Mickey tutors Jenna in ward-casting and theoretical magic. They develop a mentor-student bond.


Lucía Morley

Lucía has few truly close relationships, friendship or otherwise. She has a difficult time trusting people, and loses respect for people she has sexual or romantic encounters with.

Dara: They spend a lot of time together and appear to have a close familial and professional bond on the surface. However, Lucía attempts to drug Dara into loyalty, and Dara is happy to throw Lucía under the bus if it will satisfy her ambitions. They are no longer close at the end of the book.

Jenna: Jenna joins Lucía's extra-credit lab and develops a one-sided crush on Lucía, unintentionally further deepened as a result of Lucía's loyalty drug. Lucía is happy to use Jenna's loyalty to further her plans to take over the family, but does not use or reciprocate Jenna's romantic feelings. Jenna no longer has a crush on or loyalty to Lucía by the end of the book.

Thairn: Lucía develops strong feelings about Thairn, some of which may be sexual or romantic, but does not act on them. Thairn finds her interesting to talk to and would be willing to help her act on some of these feelings, but refrains after realizing Lucía loses respect for people who do. Lucía attempts to drug Thairn into loyalty. They are enemies at the end of the book.


Luke

Luke has close professional relationships, offscreen friendships and no family bonds. He would likely pursue monogamous sexual/romantic relationships, but none are shown on-screen.

Mickey: Luke is fairly loyal to Mickey, whose past experiences with other bodyguards make it difficult for Mickey to trust in that loyalty. Mickey begins to realize some of this over the course of the book, but still isn't willing to trust him entirely.

Xavier: Luke would walk backwards into hell for Xavier, honestly. They have a very close bond and are willing to back each other up as needed.


Michelle Kim

Jenna: They develop a nonsexual romantic connection that becomes a relationship near the end of the book. Their growing bond and deep care for one another drives a lot of their story arcs.

Mickey: Mickey tutors Michelle in shadow magic and lying. They develop a mentor-student bond. There are rumors in the school that they are otherwise involved, but these rumors are false. Neither of them sees the other that way.

Xavier: Xavier is deeply loyal to Mickey, whose past experiences with other bodyguards make it difficult for Mickey to trust in that loyalty. Mickey begins to realize some of this over the course of the book, but still isn't willing to trust him entirely.


Thairn Aur'vosha

Thairn has present and past friendships, sexual relationships, romantic relationships and kink relationships. Thairn is in contact with their family, but does not like them much. Their relationships are primarily sexual and romantic, but are delving more into kink.

Don: They had a long-term romantic and sexual relationship, including living together. Their relationship ended tragically with Don's death. The emotional impact of this death is explored in the book.

Illa: They have an arranged betrothal that Illa has tried to get out of and Thairn has refused to, out of fear they'll both be married off to strangers. Despite this, they've become close friends over the years. In the book, they develop a dominant-submissive sadomasochistic kink relationship. Malachi: They are half-brothers and despise one another. They do not reconcile.

Mickey: Xavier is deeply loyal to Mickey, whose past experiences with other bodyguards make it difficult for Mickey to trust in that loyalty. Mickey begins to realize some of this over the course of the book, but still isn't willing to trust him entirely.
